Yuuhi-daki, The Yuhidaki Waterfall (雄飛滝) Yuhidaki is a 30 meter waterfall located in Yamada Town in the northernmost part of Shuzenji Town in Izu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. It flows down in two stages; the upper stage is 20 meter tall and the lower stage is 10 meter tall. The white lines of water flowing down on the columnar joint rock surface, which is typical to this region, are very beautiful. The statue of Fudo Myoo is enshrined beside the bottom of the waterfall.
Double-flowered cherry trees that come into bloom in late April and hydrangea flowers that line the walking trail down to the basin in June offer wonderful color contrasts to the waterfall. In winter, on the other hand, the dashing flow of water freezes to create beautiful ice pillars. You will feel as if time has stopped when you see the sharp tips of ice plunging from above your head and protruding toward you.
Banjou-no-taki, The Banjo Waterfall (萬城の滝) The Banjo Waterfall on the Jizodo River, a tributary of the Kano River, is about 20 meters high and 6 meters wide. Collecting clear stream from the mountains in Amagi, it dynamically flows down with roaring sounds. You can see the waterfall from the backside, from which the waterfall is also called “Urami no Taki (meaning a waterfall seen from the backside)” or “Ryo-omoi no Taki (the Love-with-each-other Waterfall).”
The legend of Red Ox is handed down about this waterfall. Legend has it that once Red Princess visited the waterfall on the back of a red ox and wove at her loom beside the waterfall. As the sound of the weaving loom mixed with the roaring sound of water sounded like a bellow of an ox, people believed that the spirit that resided in the waterfall must be an ox.
With a 1,000-year-old zelkova tree, a camping site and Japanese horse-radish fields in the vicinity, visitors can enjoy bountiful nature around the waterfall.
Fukiware Waterfall is in a Fukiware Gorge formed by Katashina River, and is located about 16 km east-northeast of Numata city. It is along Route 120 leading to Nikko or Oze.
The width of the river about 30 meters, and there is a long large crack in the river. And the water of the river falls down into the crack. The hight is about 7 meters. The scenery is like Niagara Falls in America. The strong flow of this river erodes the rock, so this waterfall is moving back about 7 cm a year.
There is "Masutobi waterfall" downstream a little. It has a height of 8 meters and a width of 6 meters.
Along the river, there are many strange rocks. The length of the gorge is about 1.5 km, and some walking trails are set up along the gorge. Near the two waterfalls, there are three observatories.
Fukiware Falls is a waterfall in Numata-shi Tone-machi. The name means something akin to 'falls that split and blow.' The name comes from how the ground appears to be split and the sheets of spray that come from the falls.
There is lovely hiking right around and above the falls and it's also possible to walk right up to the edge of the falls. Be careful and stay behind the painted lines though as people have been washed over the edge by sudden rushes of water.

By route bus
About 50 minutes from Numata station on JR Joetsu Line, about 1 hour 20 minutes from Jomo-kogen station on Joetsu-Shinkansen. The number of buses departing from Numata station is more than Jomo-kogen station. To Numata, by limited express "Minakami" on JR Joetsu Line, about 2 hours and 5 minutes from Ueno. To Jomo-kogen, by Joetsu-Shinkansen, about 1 hour 15-20 minutes from Tokyo.
By car
Run Kan-etsu Expressway, and exit Numata Exit. About 130 km from Tokyo. About 1 hours 30 minutes.
Since 1964, Jigokudani yaenkoen loved by many
people in all over the world. Jigokudani Yaenkoen as a place where the
interesting the mode of life of the Japanese Macaque can be observed nearby,
and as a place of Monkey’s Onsen. And many researchers and photographers coming
too, and they leave their achievements lots.
Jigokudani is located in a mountainous area in
approximately the center of Japan. Jigokudani Monkey Park is located in the
valley of Yokoyu-River that flowing from Shigakogen area of the northern part
of Nagano-Prefecture. At 850 meters in elevation, it is a harsh environment
where snow covers the ground for one-third of the year.
People called Jigokudani (Hell's Valley) because
they could see the spectacle that looks like the hell that steep cliff, spring
out boiling water from the surface of the earth. But this place is a paradise
for monkeys. Two groups of monkeys are living in naturally at present.
We have about 180 kinds of monkeys the entire
world. Gorilla, Chimpanzee, Orangutan, Baboon, Savanna monkey, Spider monkey,
Squirrel monkey, Red hair monkey and others. Almost of them are inhabited in
Torrid Zone and subtropics.
Japanese monkey is inhabited in the north area.
And northern part of Japan has a lot of snow during a few months. Generally,
the temperature is minus 10 degree C. Japanese monkey is living in the natural
environment, so they have called snow monkey.
“Marine World - Uminonakamichi" is located in Fukuoka City, which lies in the Kyushu region. It was opened in 1989 in the "Cultural Resort Area" of the nationally operated Uminonakamichi Seaside Park. This aquarium focuses on the aquatic life of Tsushima's warm current. We exhibit various organisms which inhabit the subtropical area around Amami Oshima, the temperate zone offshore Kyushu Island to the Sanin region, and the subartic area around Hokkaido in conjunction with the Japan current from south to north. The largest water tank, which holds 2,000 gallons of water, is for dolphin and sea lion shows. A panoramic water tank (Depth: 7 m, amount of water: 1400 gallons) is home to more than 120 sharks of 20 different kinds. There are over 70 large and small water tanks, including an outdoor whale pool (Diameter: 13m Depth: 15m, Water amount: 720 gallons).

Blue Pond in Hokkaido, Japan
The Blue Pond is located in the left bank of the River Bieigawa, southeast of the town of Biei in Hokkaido, Japan, about 2.5 km northwest from the Platinum hot springs at the foot of Mt. Tokachi. The pond gets its name from the unnaturally bright blue hue of its water. With tree stumps protruding from the surface of the water, not unlike Lake Kaindy, the Blue Pond has an ethereal and enchanting appearance.
The Blue Pond wasn’t there from very long. It’s an artificial pond created when a dam was erected to protect the region from mudflows that might occur from the nearby volcano on Mt. Tokachi. In the wake of the eruption on December 1988, the Hokkaido Regional Development Bureau decided to construct a dam upstream on the Bieigawa river to prevent mudflow. Water blocked by the dam now accumulates in a depression in the forest creating the Blue Pond.
The blue color of the pond has not been fully explained but is attributed to the presence of aluminum hydroxide in the water that reflects the shorter wavelength blue light the same way the earth’s atmosphere does. The color of the pond also changes depending on what angle you look at it from and even at different times of the day. Although the water appears blue when viewed from the land, the color is not found in the water itself.
A sparkling blue pond filled with mysterious, pure water
The Kaminoko pond is located near the Ura Mashu observation platform and the downtown area. The mysterious sparkling cobalt blue waters of this pond comes from the drift ice that covers Lake Mashu during winter. The shining red dolly varden trout that swim in this lake give it the color and appearance of an Impressionist painting. This small lake is only 220 meters around and 5 meters deep, and with the high clarity of the water you can see right down to the lakebed.
